Ring first we did, after the trip through from Taumarunui it was great to stop over not a lot to see hills every where but very nice toilet / shower , good rates and freindly people.Pack in and pack out your rubbish, due to the location very much doubt we would be back that way, same really.

Can't really decide how to

Can't really decide how to rate this spot. I have been told that the owners wish to sell and can't make their minds up whether to be open or not. Recently met someone who told me it was a lovely spot - went there at 11.00 am the next day to find the gates locked and a closed sign up. Suggest anyone wanting to stay phone first to see if it is convenient or not.

Sorry you found them closed, it is a great spot. I have heard recently that the place is no longer on the market, so apparently the owners have decided to stay. They are a retired couple and run the camp on their own so need a break occasionally. You must have caught them on a break. As you suggest it is best to ring and check.
