13 March 2014 This is a big site. We arrived in daylight, and thank goodness we did. The toilets and showers have recently been given a make over and are looking good. Pity about the poor water pressure in the showers and the lack of somewhere to put your dry clothes, not even a soap holder in the shower. The water was of a temperature that didn't need any cold water, totally unimpressed. The kitchen was reasonably clean. Oven trays could be had if you cared to go back to the office - not sure how late this office is open. From the site were the van was parked, the toilets, showers, kitchen and laundry aer at the top of a hill that Sir Edmond Hillary would struggle with. Very hard to recommend this camp ground.
we arrived just after dark. The booking in process was very simple and the staff friendly. However, right by the office is a row of cabins and the person in the first one had parked very poorly, meaning that a wide swoop had to be made so that we could get the caravan around without either taking the roof off or the poorly parked car with us. Better lighting, and better staff awareness is called for here as I am sure we wouldn't have been the first to 'hit' this problem! The site is large, very large, and once again better lighting, or arriving in daylight, would help. Driving around, in the dark not knowing where it is you are supposed to be going is hard on the nerves. The one thing you know about any top ten site is that the facilities are going to be clean and free, and this was no exception. Excellent, hot showers, excellent kitchen facilities and a well laid out pitch. If you are into train spotting, then you are in for a treat, if you aren't then bring ear plugs. With the railway quite near a good nights sleep may be hard to have. The other thing you know about a top ten is the cost, and this one was like all the others, expensive
