It was early afternoon, raining, we had just arrived from the ferry and were on our way north. We are LOTR fans and this location appealed. However, the office was closed, the telephone number on the camp van parked outside the office did not answer despite repeated calls by us and a local business person. We waited in hope, but finally went back to Wellington and found another park.
2 adults, a 3 year old & a 6 berth campervan. We stayed here for 1 night to catch the ferry the next morning. We were pointed to a site where we could parallel park next to some other campervans on a bit of grass. They have some nicer sites as well, but since we were leaving early the next morning we did not mind. After parking the campervan we made a walk trough the park to see some of the locations (Isengard) the movie LOTR was made. Here you will find some nice playgounds and a swimmingpool (during summer months) for small kids.

Nice peaceful spot in between impressive trees, next to a park and along side the river. A good amenities block has constant supply of hot water - whilst classic hits gold floats through the air. Paid $18 for 1 person a night.
Edit: fee is now $20 for 1 person
