What an awesome place to camp. If you want real camping then this is the place to go. Showers are awesome, and so is the river if you don't want to pay $2 for 5 minutes if hot water!!!
What a perfect stop over when traveling North or South. Hidden from the noise of SH1 and nestled by the river (with Trout!). We found the managers to be very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Facilities are a bit limited, but otherwise a great little camp.
An excellent little campsite that's just off SH1 and well hidden. The Rangitikei river is right there on your door step. The owners of this site organise river adventures and this is a site that you could spend more than one day at. Not state of the art facilities, but useable. A pay for shower seems a bit harsh, but when you consider this is a unmanned site you can see why. Limited power sites and pet friendly (so fellow pet owners lets keep that way and clean up after your pet, eh).
Biggest shame is that the same company that owes this also owns the DC3 that Mangaweka was famous for. I say was as it was once a cafe but now isn't. Now it's a bloody big ornament !
