Facilities

  • South Taranaki District Council
  • Toilets
  • Hot Showers

The journey starts at the end of Ball Road, just North of Patea. The road is unsealed and not for the faint hearted, but you will be rewarded by the atmosphere of this special place. Excellent bushwalks, hot showers, boat ramp for many water activities. NZ's longest manmade lake.

it's a long drive off the SH3

it's a long drive off the SH3, partly tar sealed, partly gravel. The tar seal part has some spectacular views - and some equally spectacular drop off's for the unwary. Where are the gravel is a bit twisty with few passing points for those towing.
Talking of towing this is not for the beginner or the nervous.
The end result is a busy little campsite with not a lot going for it unless you happen to have brought your boat as well.
