The campsite is actually in Owen Street and right on the water. Great reception at the office with friendly advice. Older facilities with press button but hot showers, clean toilets, laundry and kitchen facilities. Stayed here twice. Dump point.
Staff were friendly. Great location with cliffs on one side, beach on the other, pleasant walk to the Pancake Rocks (mostly along the water's edge), beautiful walk along the Porarari River track and only a short drive to the Truman Track. Sites were marked and a good size - we had a 2 room tent - and had a degree of privancy formed by shrubs and small trees. Cleanliness was excellent and kitchen facilities well-maintained.
This is the only real option in the area, and thus is a little more expensive than the facilities really warrant. But the location is worth it! The kitchen is large and functional. Don't miss the drying room :) The un-powered sites have a slightly nicer view, in my opinion.
Nice camp with spacious, flat, grassed sites. The beach is just behind a row of trees on 1 side, with towering cliffs dominating the skyline on the other. The facilities were slightly dated and basic - but were clean and tidy. Just a hop to the beach, and close to nearby walking tracks and blowholes. Excellent location well worth a stopover.
