great place to camp an been able to get rid of our rubbish in supplied bins was a blessing an there were sealions

Well i hope pearly shell never come back to the Catlins, obviously you are one of the few that don't deserve to appreciate real NZ if you focus is on leaving your rubbish behind, go away and stay in your own rubbish pile!!

We found the directions in DoC booklet for the location of this campsite confusing. Almost gave up. Was a relief to find and although it was a cold night found the scenery quite stunning. Would certainly recommend this campsite.

We were unable to drive to

We were unable to drive to Jacks Bay as there was a 5000kg weight limit so we drove to Purakaunui DOC camp. The gravel road was OK as we didn't meet any vehicles, which was good, as, in some places someone would have had to back up if we did. But a really good place to stay, rubbish, toilets.
We were parked just behind where this photo was taken.
