As tenters, we elected to

lhkershaw1's picture

As tenters, we elected to stay in a cabin due to preditced bad weather and booked for 3 nights. The cabin was solidly built and had a pleasing appearance, though not clean and the sofa looked and felt as though it had been retrieved from a rubbish tip. The position of the large kitchen area is superb.Kitchen equipment was provided but some were in a poor state. Other tourists did not seem to take much care. The clothes dryer was inoperable. Staff managing the day-to-day tasks seemed mostly to be transients on working holidays.
The location with access to the magnificent dunes and beach walk, including the baby seals frolicking in the seaside pool, was superb. I felt this, rather than the state of the camp, influenced the high price.
We only stayed 2 nights and were kindly refunded 1 night. The owner/manager was particularly helpful on our departure, assisting us when our car had a flat battery.

Great location for walking

beatsmilking's picture

Great location for walking tracks to the beach, the lighthouse and up the spit. The camp does do a $10 taxi service to pickup from the cafe if you do the 3hr ish walk via the lighthouse.
The camp is very clean, and grounds were looked after. Good amount of space between each site, and large bbq area. The showers were $2 for 5 mins - so the overall cost per person is in the upper price range for camps.
The camp also runs a cafe next to the beach carpark - and is a very nice place to sit amongst the trees.
If your coming out to stay here remember to bring enough food (or be able to fish)- the nearest shop for supplies maybe Collingwood.
Friendly owner and staff here will give you all the details on the best walks, and times to go.
