only two stars from me not so

warp factor 0's picture

only two stars from me not so much because of the site more of the possible occupants! Major tourist area with many 'tourist' can't driver hire campers who are here today, gone tomorrow (after backing into your vehicle and buggering off)! This is a high risk area without the safety of an organised campsite. we pulled in, looked around and pulled out!

Not as primitive as made out

Valian's picture

Not as primitive as made out on some sites. New camping and toilet facilities. Close to Kea Point and Mueller Valley walks and Mount Sefton.. $10/pp but worth it. Can get quite cold at night due to proximity to mountains and an early sunset.

10$ per person is not Really

fryx's picture

10$ per person is not Really cheap for a DOC-camp. the sites allow no privacy and ot feels more like a carpark with a stunning view though.

A very popular campsite as it

bernd_stuerze's picture

A very popular campsite as it has easy access to walks for glacier views. Very clean and useful cooking indoor shelter. DOC wardens were meticulous in keeping the walking tracks free of rubbish. Limited tent sites which have nearby parking space for your car.

Great location with perfect views and tracks nearby. Good places for tents. Facility OK. When crouded during peak season it may need to check in early. Small rabits are great.

campground is pure for

tjaardspoelstra's picture

campground is pure for campervans. If you want to go with a tent prepare for a rocky night. As long as your tent survives in bad weather. during the night I stayed four tents where blown to bits and pieces. If you have a campervan, there are some sheltered places.. Be advised, in the morning a large number of Asian tourists wonder around at the campsite, taking snapshots of your best face after a rocky night..
