nice secluded spot. access road is very long, winding and steep, make sure you have a full tank of fuel before heading up here. good tramping in the national park here. The campsite is quite exposed to the winds. We visited in October and it was very cold at night as this spot is quite high.

Very nice location for tramping and fishing. The campsite is on the river and reservoir edge, and theres a really nice spot 3/4 rs the way up the reservoir under a tree. Reminded me a lot of a Scottish Lock - quite different from your usual Abel Tasman experience - and certainly a LOT less crowded. Theres camping also at the other end near the dam - but it is colder in the morning as the morning sun is shaded by the mountain. The road in is single lane - but mostly tar sealed. Theres no need for a 4 wheel drive, but longer vehicles could be a problem if theres oncoming traffic in some spots. In fact, in any vehicle theres some spots you'll be crossing your fingers and toes theres no oncoming traffic! :)
