Tauranga City Council Freedom Camp Restrictions

  • Mobile homes are permitted to stay for a maximum of two consecutive nights per calendar month in any one location.
  • A maximum number of three mobile homes will be permitted in any one location on any one night. Eligibility to stay in any permitted location is determined by ranking in order of time of arrival.
  • Mobile homes are only permitted to park within existing defined carparking areas.
  • Mobile homes must be legally parked at all times.
  • A certified self containment sticker must be displayed on the front windscreen of the mobile home.

good spot for accessing

good spot for accessing Tauranga and the mount. toilets are closed at night but 24h toilets are a 5 min walk away. the cold shower is an outdoor shower.

Fantastic spot, nice clean toilets, BBQs, great park, right on the beach. Quiet residential area with great views and awesome sunsets. Big thank you to Tauranga City Council for making these spots available.

Waterfront location, view of Mt Maunganui, toilets, playground, park, bbq's and cold shower (in changing rooms towards the waterfront) - this freedom spot has it all! Carpark is a good size, and nice and flat.
