Stayed 2 nights March 2015. Excellent, clean facilities. Good showers. 10 minute walk to beach. Sheltered pitches with hedges between giving privacy. School parties there but well behaved children having a good time. very friendly and helpful staff. Fairly close to railway station for train to Wellington - 35 minute journey into city.

Only stayed here during

Only stayed here during winter, but found it to be a very nice site. The pitches are far enough apart and the facilities fairly good. Entry was via a keypad number which gave us some sense of security. (however when we arrived back late on the morning of our departure we couldn't get in and had the 'hard word' about leaving on time - 10am - but didn't get charged the extra day as was mentioned!!!)

This is a good site for exploring QE park, or the beaches, and close enough to pop into Wellywood (just don't be late coming back)!

It's a real dog friendly site with dog owners having their own special area. Very nice - other site managers please note.

During our time there it rained and getting out caused a bit of wheel spin and the dreaded, "oh god are we going to get stuck" feeling - but we didn't, just!

I'd imagine that this site would be very busy during the summer.

Good location, with beach

Good location, with beach nearby and on the edge of Queen Elizabeth Park. Plenty of powered sites, all with plenty of room and seperated by hedges, could accomodate larger vehicles ok. Has recently installed automatic barrier - so theres no worries about getting locked in at night anymore. Excellent value for money for 1 person - I paid $13 for the night.

I have only stayed here in

I have only stayed here in the quiet autumn and winter months. Looks like it would get pretty busy over summer with many caravans in lock up awaiting the annual hols - but it is a large camp and the shower, toilets and kitchens are clean and well appointed. That's pretty much all there is apart from some play equipment for the kiddies - no email or wireless access for example. However it is set in Queen Elizabeth Park and is adjacent to the beach - useful for long leisurely walks with views of Kapiti Island, Te Raparaha's island fortress. The management seem pleasant enough. I must admit I feel uncomfortable being in a camp ground that locks the gate around 11pm and you are locked in or out for the night should you wish to savour the delights of the cafe and woodfired pizzas in the pretty township of Paekakariki. Oh and if you intend to go towards the rear of the grounds check with the management if anyone has booked the lodge. They can be noisy buggers at night.
