Huge park and we could choose our own spot, as it was not busy. This gave use lots of space and a very pleasant aspect. We were told about the new shower and toilet block, but we elected to have a beach facing site near an older block. This was fine.
Yes there are quite a few permanents here - but they are in their own area, and I didnt find them scruffy at all. The park itself is huge (biggest in Southern Hemisphere apparently) - so plenty of spots to choose from. All the facilities are well maintained, and theres plenty of them - I was here on Christmas and Boxing day when the park was extremely busy, and had no waiting around for showers to be free. The park was also offering free mini-putt, tractor pull rides, and quiz nights, so they really do make an effort to keep you entertained.
The fitness training circuit around the park is a nice touch - but it was too hot for me to try it! I paid just over $15 for 1 person on power site with a kiwi card - good value especially at this time of year. There are low flying planes over the camp - but they are not at all frequent and I didnt notice any at night.
