Waihi Falls is So off the beaten path…So worth a visit! I figured that I’d stop for a halfhour and check it out since it was labeled on the Hema map…but I ended up staying a full night and day. Swimming, sunning, exploring down- stream, photographing in the changing light…and making a campfire down at the falls’ pool…so lovely! Of course I was unprepared for such beauty— this waterfall isn’t in the wa terfall book and the Dannevirke brochure has a couple of small pix, hardly encouraging a visit.

Fact is, this waterfall is gorgeous! About 20-25m high and way wider. I won’t even put a frontal picture of the entire thing lest I ruin your surprise. Visit if you’re near.
