Herbert Forest Camping Ground

have been Herbert Forest Camping Ground with my wife first time in our South Island trip in May 2015. We rented a self-contained motorhome capable of 4 pax.
We have visited Oamaru and looked for our stay there. Before our trip to Oamaru, we have stayed in top 10 holiday parks and some franchise holiday parks or camp grounds. However, i personally like to live with nature and thats the point for hiring the campervan!! We found this place and we really stayed in the forest with a powersite. They had lots of walking tracks and river nxt to it which can do kayaking. The facilities r reasonably well maintained. Can not say its top quality but the price is only $10 per adult to non powered site and $17/adult powered site. The down side is that they only accept cash no eftpos/credit card.

Arrived late after 10pm and did not find anyone. Dark camp, no visitors. Just one dog. So we did not stay.

A wonderful peaceful place to stay. Clean facilities, dog friendly and a beautiful river to explore just down the track!
